DESCRIPTION: Gray wool day dress
Originally donated by Sophie Gimbel
This day dress of medium gray wool flannel with white cotton pique binding at collar and cuffs could be the “missionary dress” that Gimbel speaks of in interviews. This coat dress is constructed with an asymmetrical vertical row of button closures with an over-flap and a collarless round neckline. The binding around the neckline, along with the ensembles restrained color palette gives it an ecclesiastical or puritanical effect.
