Parsons fashion history is as glamorous as its star players. The School's illustrious Fashion alumni who have designed unique collections for women include: Adrian, Carrie Donovan, Claire McCardell, Isaac Mizrahi, Behnaz Sarafpour, Willi Smith, Cynthia Steffe, Narciso Rodriguez, Donna Karan, Yeohlee, and the designs teams of Badgley Mischka and Proenza Schouler.
Through the years, the Parsons BFA Fashion Thesis Show has helped launch the careers of its most talented alumni. The first in the nation, Parsons' fashion design program has educated a who's who list of talent from Claire McCardell and Normal Norell to Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Lazaro Hernandez, Jack McCollough of Proenza Shouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Anna Sui, and Alexander Wang.
Problem solving and visual communication are the focus of the fashion design curriculum at Parsons. From research and conceptual drawing, through the selection of colors and fabrics, to the construction and presentation of finished garments, the process emulates the workings of a professional design studio. Diversity of interests is encouraged, extending out to childrenswear. Check it out.
