Fashion Studies Research Methods: Symposium and Book Launch

Written by School of Fashion | Feb 24, 2016.

This special event brings together the contributors to the new book Fashion Studies: Research Methods, Sites and Practices (ed. Heike Jenss, Bloomsbury 2016). This new anthology provides rich and nuanced perspectives on the use and combinations of methodological approaches to explore fashion in a wide range of contexts: from everyday fashion to experimental fashion design, from street style blogging to work in the New York garment industry and fashion and politics.

With interdisciplinary scholars discussing the use of material culture, ethnography and practice-based approaches for the critical study of fashion, this event provides a forum for a broader conversation across the humanities, social sciences and design.

Please join us for a reception following the symposium. We will celebrate both the launch of the edited volume Fashion Studies: Research Methods, Sites and Practices and Heike Jenss’ new monograph Fashioning Memory: Vintage Style and Youth Culture, also recently released by Bloomsbury Academic.
