Walking on Fifth Avenue
Every week my Visual Merchandising class is out walking. Right now we’re exploring and documenting NYC’s vibrant retail and storefront facades. To get the best shots RULE #1 for storefront photography has always been photograph at night. This reduces glare and reflection when no flash is used. Oftentimes, however, rules are broken and something interesting happens. Take a look at this Bottega Venata window display taken by AAS student Jason Lee. Not only do we have the experience of seeing a cool and innovative take on paper dolls, but we get a chance to see 1) the photographer, 2) taxis, traffic and pedestrians, 3) The Peninsula Hotel, 4) a series of flags and 5) a bright sunny day. Truly. “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
